Klamath Falls. I've been through here only once before. Didn't stop though. I'd always wanted to come here because of Klamath Falls' inclusion as a setting/destination in Fallout2. It's a nice little town; it welcomes you.
It's 4:39 in the morning. I'm on my hands and knees on the bed to give my lower back a break. Loading the truck took tremendous effort and I can feel my back a stage or two away from spasm. I need some pickled ginger. We'll leave about 6am, maybe get to Portland by the time any decent sushi place opens for me to get some ginger. Might have to stop at a store and just grab a chunk of ginger root and eat it straight, skin and all. Wouldn't be the first time. I can't help but laugh to myself how fucking awful it's going to taste, but how thankful my back will be when the inflammation dies down.
My whole life is in, or towed by, the truck outside. It's all just stuff. I have my family. I haven't even checked on it. Fuck it. It's locked up. My poor plants are probably freezing to death on the floor of the backseat of my car. It's 23-degrees outside. Probably be colder by the time we leave.
Haven't slept very well. I made the mistake of having a quad-shot latte macchiato yesterday at about 5pm in Susanville. Rolled into Klamath about 9:30. I was driving hella slow - just trying to be careful with the tow dolly - much to the chagrin of fellow travelers on the road. Except for Gwenny, who totally hates car rides, we were mostly in good spirits. But I've been lying here all night barely able to sleep from the caffeine, knowing I'm going to have a killer migraine all day. Still, even with only a few hours of total sleep, I feel surprisingly awake and alert. I'm really going through with this. We're really moving to Seattle. We're really doing this. My son has my back. He trusts me. Gwenny trusts me. That's one of the greatest feelings in the world.
