The decisions we make shape our lives. I want to give you a really silly example. Let's say you like eating burgers, and you have one burger today. You're probably going to feel fine, right?
Then next week you have one burger every day for a week. You might feel ok, but perhaps a little bit sluggish. It's not going to affect your overall health too much.
But imagine you had one burger a day for a year. You're probably going to have a heart condition. You're going to have very low energy. Your skin's going to be terrible and you'll feel pretty sluggish.
So we all make thousands of micro-decisions every day. We decide to spend an hour scrolling through facebook or listening to a podcast or wathcing a Netflix episode, or spend time talking to our friend about our plans for the coming year and how excited we are.
What you need to do is write down your goal for 12 months from now as an example, or you can choose a goal that's much closer, let's say six months from now, and when you make decisions during the day, think about, is this decision moving me towards my goal or keeping me away from it?
So give it a try for the next week. See if those decisions you make are really going to make a difference in achieving your desired outcome or not.
