Today I photographed this tree-Karadjordje mulberry .
Karadjordje mulberry is a monument of nature - a botanical character, but also a famous place in the history of Smederevo. Under this tree, on November 8, 1805, Karadjordje, the leader of the First Serbian Uprising, received the keys of the Smederevo fortress from the Turkish city commander, Muharem Gusse, in the presence of the Serbian elders and ustanika. The handover of the keys was done in a ceremonial manner, since the Turks left a lot of cannons and ammunition to the Serbs, and Karadjordje allowed them to leave Smederevo with military honors and small arms and to take the ships along the Danube to Vidin, Bulgaria.
