Ever since I first saw her music cover and video clip for Assassins Creed 3, I instantly fell in love with, and started digging more of Lindsey Stirling's work.
Her choreographed violin dances are something different than what I'm used to. She first came into spotlight back in 2010 as a hip hop violinist at America's Got Talent, incorporating dancing with playing the violin. And while she got axed at the quarter finals, shattering her dreams, being told "You need to be in a group. ... What you're doing is not enough to fill a theater in Vegas.", she quickly gathered back her strengths and continued on practicing.
Her YouTube videos garnered her more and more popularity from cover music, and from the original score she made as well. Two years later, one of her videos, Crystallize, shot to No. 8 most viewed video of the year 2012, with over 42 million views.
A year later, she signed a deal with Lady Gaga's manager, Troy Carter, got golden certification for her first released album, and started her first ever worldwide tour. One of many to come apparently.
January last year, Lindsey Stirling published her auto-biography book The Only Pirate At The Party. The book, while being an auto-biography, was quite honestly written from the heart. For Lindsey is no ordinary person. But the truly humble, down-to-earth kind. In her book, you will get to know about her childhood, growing up, her Mormon missionary experience, her beginnings, her fumbles, ups and downs, and even about her secret personal health problems that ruined her friendships, and almost destroyed her life.
I can honestly say, I didn't feel for one bit of it that she was trying to pretend to be someone else, or hide some facts from the readers. I see her stage personality in her book. She is truly a unique person, that deserves admiration and respect.
If you're into Lindsey Stirling, or auto-biographies, this is one of the best, despite being a bit early in her career. And if you want my advise, take the Audio version instead, and listen to Lindsey tell it in her own words!
