I talked about it in previous posts, one of the main influencial people that shaped my musical taste was Klaus Schulze. Originally being a drummer, he played in the band Tangerin Dream, co-founded the band Ash Ra Temple, and later became one of the leading musicians in the avantgarde electronic music scene.
This track, "Crystal Lake", from his 1977 album Mirage, is just awesome even if the 40 year old recording is not matching todays standards. But I heard it played live at a concert when it just came out - just "wow!" is all I can say.

Have a nice flight!
I think his music would be perfect as a platform into trance or progressive house remixes :)

Indeed one can find influences of Schulze's early work in modern techno, house and trance music. Thats why I regard him as a front runner of all electronic music.
His achievements are even more impressive, when you concider what equipment he had available at the time. All those synths, sequencers and all that was analog. That creates huge difficulties regarding tuning, synchronizing speeds and all.
Time and rime again I tried to replicate the sequencer sound at the beginning of the track, and I just cant get it right. And thats with all the help from software and all. :)

That is the same thing as The Beatles-Tomorrow Never Knows , where they made first effects in modern music. Btw, they were made in cassetes, which were manualy turned back and recorded at the same time :) you know, same thing is done today on big mixing table.

Yes, they were very crafty in those days. There was a guy in Germany, Holger Czukay, who did sampling music long before there were samplers. He arranged his tracks from pieces of magnetic tape with all sorts of recorded sound bites.
Thanks for bringing that up - it gave me a idea for my next post. :)
