I guess most people connect the name Jean Michel Jarre with his album "Oxygene", that was a mega success even in the main stream music scene. Which is very rare for electronic music.
Most of Jarre's music is easier accessable for a broad audience than that of some other electronic musicians. One could even say, he tends to lean towards a pop music kind of sound.
A lesser known of his tracks shows, that this is not always true. The 45 minute track "Waiting for Cousteau", from his album of the same name, goes much more into the direction of the ambient sound creations Brian Eno is known for. Have a listen:
