1970 was a big year for Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR).
Their album "Cosmo's Factory" made a huge success and they became one of the most popular American groups in the World.
But then... tensions within the group started to raise on unbearable levels.
CCR recorded one more album, "Pendulum" with Tom Fogerty, the rhythm guitar player and the brother of John Fogerty, that left the band to pursue his solo career.
John Fogerty felt that the band is counting its days (though one more album was recorded after Tom Fogerty's departure) and that is how "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" was born. It is not only a song about catastrophe that happens when everything seems to be in the best place ("rain coming down on a sunny day), than also about depression and its periodicity ("through the circle fast and slow")
"Have You Ever Seen the Rain" is one of the most covered CCR's songs. Rod Stewart, Boney M, Smokey, Johnny Cash and the list goes on and on. I personally really love the cover Willie Nelson recorded with his daughter Paula Nelson.
