Groovebox Jam - OP-1 - Deep Techno - Basket Case Itch

in music •  7 years ago

One of my first longer sketches on the OP, using some of my favourite kicks loving sourced over time.

Overall a pretty claustrophobic and menacing vibe with lots of paranoid percussion, edgy bassline and unsettling digital string-bells.

Add a splash of lush OP spring reverb and you end up with a dark and louring jam on this moody but magical device.

Don't forget to tune in for more groovebox sketches, hardware jams and lots of finest House and Techno tracks sourced daily!

niceee one bro! You have the op1 man. Thats the dream!

Thank you, @mosha, glad you enjoyed it. I love the OP for it's uniqueness but in all honesty I am yet to gel with it properly as I did with Circuit which I absolutely adore. It's definitely doing things differently and makes you think of composition out of the whole sequence looped paradigm, though it comes with it's own bunch of stellar sequencers. The whole tape part really makes you think differently about approaching making stuff on it. One thing for sure is it's my go-to for taking it on the trips as it is just an excellent sketchpad for flights and such. I definitely got it for the reason of there being nothing else like it and don't regret it one bit, I'll bond with it eventually. Lusting over many other grooveboxes but all in due time, trying not to GAS too much and actually get more stuff done with the tools I have, you know how that goes haha.

Ah yes i think i should try the circuit too. Heard good stuff about it. I just love the idea of taking it to trips as you said and just let it flow.
Hahaha yes theres always new stuff to buy out there.

Oh yea, I've taken it to park with me multiple times, so much fun to just be inspired by nice breeze, people watching and noodling on your groovebox :) Electribe would be another option, but that one make sure you watch videos on workflow of it, some people get turned off by it quite a bit!

Sounds so nice. Thanks!

Excellent jam on the OP1! I really dig the bassline and the OP's effects sound great. Followed you and I hope to finally get my new jam recorded... Life's been in the way ;)

Thanks man, it definitely can make sounds like nothing else and the interface is just the right balance of simple and deep enough to enable creativity. I am still getting used to it, but regardless of my personal bonding issues with it, I appreciate the heck out of it for how unique and creative the device is. Thanks for the follow, man, I appreciate it. I have been pretty unproductive with the production side of things myself, but oftentimes forcing it isn't that fruitful. We'll be aight, inspiration comes and goes :) Thanks for stopping by!
