Model M - Letters to Jesus (2009) | Original Industrial Rock

in music •  7 years ago  (edited)

This week's Music Tuesday (TM) continues with exploring my husband's catalogue - I've been going backwards out of pure selfishness because I was pretty involved in the last two that he released, as well as the brand spankin' new one that he will be releasing in the next few months (more on that later...)

Anyway, this album is definitely a "black sheep" album for him as he branched out into some not-quite-so-hard-sounding songs and covers, though it's balanced out with a few very hard sounding pieces.

It's also a special album for me in regards to our relationship and how we met (just in time for Valentines Day story!), but first, here's a little bit about the album itself:

We don't have the entire album up on Soundcloud at the moment, but here's a selection of what is available:

The kids you hear at the end of this track were all the kids on our block!

This is probably one of my all time favourite songs by my husband. But I'm a sucker for really heavy stuff like this, too.

Yup, that is the Joan Baez song, you heard that right!

Album Notes

Infused with spiritual, political, and intellectual lyrics, this album has been described as industrial music for the mature industrial fan.

Released January 1, 2009

Music written and performed by Terrence Clinton Dick, except: "Over" written by Evan's Blue and performed by Terrence Clinton Dick and "Diamonds and Rust" written by Joan Baez and performed by Terrence Clinton Dick

Nina Notes

So obviously I'm featured on one of the songs explicitly, but I had a bit of input on a few of the other songs as well. Nothing really performance-wise though.

I actually met Terrence in Toronto when he was in the middle of working on this album - in fact I'd go so far to say it's a big reason why we got together in the first place! We had a mutual acquaintance who introduced us, and I'd see him at her parties all the time. He's a bit older than I so I initially thought he wasn't interested... but I was having a particularly rough summer and took him up on his offer to work with him at his hazardous waste removal company.

Well, the first day of working with him we realized that both of our biggest passions is home music recording... and he invited me to hang out after work to help him record some vocals. ...and I never left. Whoops. 10 years later we're still making homemade music together. Whoda thunk!

As usual thank you so much for all your support! I sincerely hope you enjoy the music, or at the very least my accompanying ramblings :)
