When you see something awesome and depressing all at the same time

Every once in a while I get into this nostalgic kick and I start listening to all the old music I used to listen to as a young punk. I know I sound like an old man, I'm only 32 haha! But yeah I used to be really into punk as a kid, and a lot of other music too, but punk was a big part of my life growing up.

Well this evening after finishing work (YESSSSSSS!!!!!) I started up the youtubes and found my way to some good old Rancid. Of course the classics, Ruby Soho, Time Bomb, Fall Back Down, you know, the good stuff.

Well as the Youtube's does, the auto play did its auto thing, and eventually a song came on called Telegraph Avenue.

Haven't ever heard of that one, but it sounds like the good old stuff I thought (I had youtube playing music in another tab as I was doing emails)

Then something crazy happened.

I clicked on the youtube tab, and saw this:

And I had a little bit of a freakout to be honest.

I mean, when did Rancid get so old??? They are like legit old men now, not the youthful rebels that I knew and loved!!

Seriously, Lars looks like an actual grampa, and Tim looks like the type of hobo you see on the street stumbling around screaming random gibberish about space aliens at total strangers.

Holy crap I can't tell if this is so depressing seeing them all old man-ified, or so cool to see them still playing music and producing great tracks.

Look at them in their prime here:

Well, I really don't know what to think about this but I definitely feel old now, hahaha.

I like oldies

Yeah me too

Isn't Eminem like 50 or something? Man, how time flies...

Man, that REALLY makes me feel old, hahaha. He's still going for it too though!

I could never think that Dexter ... Your style is very different now. Listening to the old music we used to listen when we was younger its something that most people do once in a while. Makes us feel better ...

I know right? The punk thing was really a phase in my youth, but I was really into it when I was into it, mohawks and all! I like listening to all that old high energy stuff sometimes though, it does make me feel better :)

kurwa

gurwa

the old school

The day I felt old listening to music was when some of my favorites became commercial jingles for toilet paper or some similar crap. I was tossed between being pissed that they "sold out" and being depressed because now I knew exactly how my parents felt when I teased them about their favorite tunes as commercial fodder.

Nice post..

youtube is a danger for breaking memories and dreams too.

I used to hang out with some punks and they were fun times.
I never really was one, although I sported a mohawk at times too.
but I'm twenty years older again though
