8 years ago I put together a mixtape with the MC and the producer in mind.
I was nicely complimented around the world as it was a well received tape.
Having produced hip hop for the best of 20 years now without a sugar coated glossing (ie hardware samplers dusty drums and jazz samples ) I wanted to put something together that MC's could just throw on and pen some bars or producers could just study and analyse the flavour.
I did the mix in two parts.
First I laid down the core mix of 12s and some album cuts live and it took me about a week to get it sounding decent.
I then returned to that mix and added, dialogue , cuts and over dubs just to keep some of it interesting and express some of my views and feelings through the dialogue and samples of others.
Jazzfanatik volume 3 evolved from vol 1&2 which where basically a mish mash of hip hop jazz instrumentals and the original samples and some of my own produced tracks the only copy of volume 1 was lent to a friend on Mini disc and subsequentally lost. I can tell you it contains a bit more lo fi and raw just istrumentals averagely mixed some from the mpc and som from vinyl.
Volume 2 I know I have still somewhere, but I havent found that box yet. It was made in 2007 and back then I had NO idea how to put a DJ mix on the internt. Plus I had recorded it to a multi track recorder so just getting it onto a computer was ana ordeal. Having moving overseas twice I'm slowly starting to go throught and loose the many ' things ' I have unconciously hoarded over the years and hope to be reunited with the disk in the future to throw out into the world.
