Synesthesia Review: Migos - Culture II

Well it's long. Really long. I mean like almost two hours long. You'd be hard pressed to find someone who'd listen to all 24 tracks in one sitting, but I did and the sequel just doesn't measure up.

The singles released beforehand foreshadowed a disappointing album with the exception of Motorsport. So my expectations weren't all that high, it woulda been a different case had the aforementioned track along with Walk It Talk It & Emoji a Chain been the singles released.

The latter track is also the sole Metro Boomin produced track (not counting the intro as it's not solely produced by Metro Boomin). That in terms of a trap album is already a major fail. It's not all negative though...

The group are consistent with their work and more importantly their flossing. We just need to take a minute to acknowledge the fact that Takeoff owned this album and every verse he delivered was potent.

The tracks on the album are going to be played in clubs. That much is a guarantee. That's where Migos have always excelled. Their core fans are those of the trap/club scene. This album is already certified classic to that side of the hip-hop community and in the end that's all that really matters.

I'm a musical enthusiast and to me after a while the album starts sounding repetitive. That's just me though and doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy listening to it. I've already written about how each genre is a form of art and I meant it. This is class and bravado coming to life.

So while it doesn't hit the heights of the original or have a Bad and Boujee level hit record, it's still an amazing album.
