There's no real criteria for a hip-hop classic, but the 2010's haven't produced many certified classics or has it? Albums such as GKMC & 2014 Forest Hills Drive by Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole respectively are considered classics, but there's more.
Hip-Hop had changed so much since the 80's/90's and that's why the term classic needs an update on what's considered classic in today's climate. I'm going to start a series profiling different albums that I think should be placed side by side with the best albums from the 2010's.
There's such a vast array of artists now than there's ever been and each one can be appreciated. Yeah we need the Kendrick's and the Cole's to carry the torch of the previous generations, but what about the Drake's, Wale's and even Travis Scott's?
They need to be appreciated as well as their music is what's carrying hip-hop forward and helping it evolve. So I'm going to vouch for artists who have phenomenal bodies of works, but aren't be given the proper recognition.
