The Rise and Fall of Logic

Before I'm chastised and crucified for this post, I'd like to start by saying that I'm a HUGE fan of Logic. I love the Young Sinatra trilogy and more so he's debut album Under Pressure.

With that being said, I'd have to admit that I'm sorely disappointed with how he's follow up albums (The Incredible True Story & Everybody) stack up against he's previous works.

While T.I.T.S isn't exactly a sophomore slump, it just doesn't top Under Pressure. The idea behind Logic's follow ups to Under Pressure being concept albums wasn't really such a good idea either.

Everybody, while having some highlights like boasting a J. Cole feature just becomes repetitive after the first few tracks. I have major respect for the message behind it, but as a concept it's just plain vanilla.

You can have an album like Under Pressure on replay as it has that replay value attached to it, but I've never given T.I.T.S a third listen or Everybody a second one. They just aren't worth the time or rather worth my time.

I fully comprehend the need for artists to evolve their sound and progress, but not at the cost of the art. There's no doubting Logic's ability and that's not what I'm disputing here, but stack it up against other albums of 2017 and Everybody just doesn't crack the top 10.

I'm not even talking about internationally, I'm talking about right here in South Africa. Yellow is a far better album than Everybody. That's not an opinion based on biased, but one based on my synesthesia.

Logic is releasing a "final" album in the near future and I'm hoping that it's a return to Young Sinatra Logic.
