A Week of FL Studio, still looking for my soundssteemCreated with Sketch.

Last week I was busy playing with FL Studio 20. It's kinda nostalgic to me. I had great times with this simple DAW since the age of FruityLoops, making music with mouse and PC keyboard even without a proper MIDI controller.

We were young and drunk, and happy, we created our own music then we laughed about how shitty our music was. It was pure fun.

Sometimes I helped wrote a song for my friends too. Here's the song which I helped co-writing it (uploaded by @biangkerok on YouTube, 8 years ago. Damn! The video itself produced at 2006. So old! :P )

The lyrics were shitty, meaningless, we were just having fun (and listened too much to the likes of twee pop acts such as Camera Obscura, Acid House Kings, or The Cardigans).

I'm very proud of them. They were no big city kids, but they've made it to National indie scenes. For a very short period of time. LOL.

Finding Sounds in FL Studio

So yeah, let's back to the topic. FL Studio. Looks like this DAW has changed a lot. Or am I forgetting many things about it? I don't know. But the fun is still there. It's still very easy and intuitive to use.

This past week I've been busy looking for sounds that I like. Tweaking oscillator here and there, throwing some filters, reverbs, delays, creating some arpeggios. The truth is, the process of finding sounds itself is already half as fun as arranging some music.

So far, I've been trying to make some sounds without any song arrangement in mind. Hahaha. Clearly, I'm not a musician. It just a hobby. But I'm willing to learn about it. Especially in the realm of mixing and mastering.

Here are some sounds I produce last week:

So that's it. I still don't know if I will keep doing this for the next couple weeks. Quoting Bono: "I still haven't found what I'm looking for..."
