Egg Hunt - Me and You
Egg Hunt was a very shortlived
project, with Ian MacKaye and Jeff Nelson, both formerly in Minor Threat. It was an experimental sort of project, with a single release with 2 tracks, where they abandoned the cliches of early American Hardcore Punk for a sound that clearly would later morph into bands like Fugazi. Shortly after recording, the band broke up, and MacKaye went on to form Embrace, before forming Fugazi a few years later.
Listen to Me and You by Egg Hunt here.
This is one of the two
tracks on their EP, and is a really cool song in the history of underground music of the '80s. You can clearly hear the punk/hardcore influence from their pasts, but also new things that showed the members trying to learn and expand their musical horizons. It's interesting that Embrace sounded so different from this, because I feel like this easily could be an early Fugazi song, it has that groovy, palm-mutey sort of style that would become synonymous with them.
Enjoy today's song! Thanks for checking out my blog, and Steem On!
