Nancy Sinatra - The Shadow of Your Smile
Nancy Sinatra is the oldest daughter
of legendary singer/performer, Frank Sinatra, who had a very successful career of her own in music and film. She began recording in the mid-60s', and had a style very different than her father. While he embraced a more conservative, "adult" sort of music, Nancy's music took influences from rock, folk and other contemporary styles. The group of studio musicians who played with her have become renowned too, and really helped to define her style over the years.
Listen to The Shadow of Your Smile by Nancy Sinatra here.
This song is from her 1966 album
How Does That Grab You?, which includes the song Bang Bang that gained a new popularity after being featured in Kill Bill Vol. 1. That is probably my favorite track on the album, but I think this one is more interesting harmonically, though it is a cover tune. Originally written by Johnny Mandel, this song has been performed by a number of artists, including most famously by Barbra Streisand. I love the chord progression in the verse in this version, the use of interesting jazzy chords really makes it stand out from the rockier stuff on the album.
Enjoy today's song! Thanks for checking out my blog, and Steem On!

One of her many cool tunes; sexy too!
Of course everyone knows, These Boots Were Made For Walkin'.
Have you heard her do the theme song for dad's movie Tony Rome? I love it!
