This is a story of "Where there is a will, there is a way" and not being afraid to #trysomethingnew.

My band Alif had made a song called "Rupiya" (meaning: money) - a song which ponders on the question of what exactly is this story of money and why people behave the way they do for money.

Come to think of it, a lot of the things said in the song also resembles what goes around here in steemit (from the little that I have seen in my 3 days of being on steemit.)

Anyways, that is not the point here. The point is we were looking to make a music video but like any other struggling musician, we were broke. A decent music video costs quite a lot of money if there is even a little bit of production or good cameras involved. We approached at least 6 directors and cinematographers and all of them quoted well beyond anything we could afford.
We almost gave up when our producer kicked our butt, saying if you can't do it now, there is no point. MAKE IT HAPPEN!

We kinda had a concept in mind, about being on the streets and involving people in the music video, since it was a song about how the general public felt about money.
So we said f*ck it, took a bike, and went out on the streets. We put my Oneplus one phone is selfie mode and just sang the song with and in front of random strangers.
The reactions we captured were priceless. And there we had the material for the video!

No fancy cameras, zero budget, zero production!

We took all the footage and I made a project in Final Cut Pro X. I had used iMovie in the past a little, but FCP was completely new to me. But I said WTH and learned on the go. I put together the edit and one of our friends was kind enough to put the little animations and do the colour corrections.

The result was satisfying and the entire process was so much fun!!
