Steve Kuhn - Self Titled 1971 - The meaning of love

in music •  7 years ago

Steve Kuhn everybody!

What an outstanding voice he has.

Such a marvelous track.

This is one of my favourite Steve Kuhn songs.

The man is a giant.

Considered as an avant-garde jazz pianist in his early days.

He has over 30 albums as leader between the 60s and today's times + 15 more as a sideman.

Harvard graduate and after that attended the Lenox School of Music.

The school's faculty included Bill Evans, George Russell, Gunther Schuller, and the members of the Modern Jazz Quartet.

This allowed Kuhn to play, study, and create with some of the most forward-thinking innovators of jazz improvisation and composition.

It culminated with his joining trumpeter Kenny Dorham's group for an extended time and (briefly) John Coltrane's quartet at New York's Jazz Gallery club.

For decades, Steve Kuhn has led all-star trios that have included such players as bassists Ron Carter and David Finck, and drummers Al Foster, Jack DeJohnette, and Joey Baron.

He has had several live recordings made in some of New York's leading jazz clubs.

If you don't know Steve Kuhn, get to know him please.

He'll change your life.

Peace, love and respect.
