The Battle of a Unknown Music Artist

Is there a formula that I haven't discovered?
Is there a blueprint that only the elite have access to?
Am I just not talented enough or am I not striving as hard as the next artist?
Is my look, personality, or my social media game playing a factor?
Some say it's about who you know.. Well, how does an unknown reach out to the knowns? Twitter and Instagram can only take you so far.
Some say it's about talent... I have heard many talented artists who have a following of fewer than 100 people.
Some say it's about being in the right place at the right time... And just how do you find this place and time?

These are just some of the many questions I talk to myself about on a daily bases. As an unknown music artist trying to make it in a world of mumble rappers and elites/vets sometimes I can start to wonder if I'm going about this all wrong.

I have been taking my music career serious for 2 solid years and each year I do an evaluation in which I say, "If I was more successful this year then last I will continue" simply meaning if I'm putting money into it and see no results then maybe I need to take a step back and regroup fully on my career choice. So far this has worked for me and now I'm going into my 3rd year ready to take some major steps such as hiring a publicist and expanding out of my city.

Last year my successes were getting my album/mixtape on the Heatseekers Billboards list at Number 2 for 3 weeks, my album coming in at #21 on the Billboard hip-hop Album sales along names like Lil Uzi, Migos, and Drake, & Performing at few festivals on the east coast. With these accomplishments, I have to strive for bigger and better in the year 2018. I will call this the year of NO SLEEP.

If you are an unknown artist such as myself what are some of the obstacles you have gone through?

Maybe I have some knowledge that you can't find just by using Google and in return maybe you can teach me something that may be new to me.
