The guitar is a great instrument. It's very portable, inexpensive, very easy enough to learn. Lots of people start to learn the guitar every day. And if you wanted to start learning guitar here are five reasons why learning guitar is easy:
1. You don't need a teacher or a tutor
Talking from a personal experience, learning guitar doesn't require paying for expensive courses or joining a music school. Five years ago, I bought a 40$ classical guitar, opened YouTube and started browsing instructional videos. Video lessons that are targeted for beginner guitarists may look very basic and boring and you may feel like you can skip them and go to the next level. But you really need to stick with the basics until you master them. A music teacher won't give that much of time to practice and learn especially if you are learning with a whole class or group.
2. Guitar is portable and affordable
Compared to instruments like Keyboard or Cello, you can take your guitar anywhere with you. You just need to put it in its bag and start your day and by that you increase your practice hours per day. Other than that, if you thing that buying a guitar is too expensive, you can buy a simple acoustic guitar with just 50$ cause your really don't need to start learning basics on an electric one.
3. You don't need music theory in the beginning. Just practice!
Just in the beginning, trying to play and memorize some chords may look difficult. Especially with their complex names like the Asus7 or Em#5, so you may conclude that you'll need to learn music theory in order to understand them. First thing you need to do is start learning basic chords like Em, A, G, C just by using you muscle memory and then you can move to the barre chords like F or Bm and along the way in learning these you will understand by yourself how chords on guitar are made and you will be able in more advanced levels to build up chords anywhere on the neck of your guitar! So the only way to learn chords and transitions between them is with practice and more practice!
4. Frets makes it easier
If your are unfamiliar with the word, frets are those metallic raised elements in the guitar neck. Frets divide guitar into musical intervals and help you put your fingers in the right position. Compared to other instruments that are fretless in which you need to hit a precise place in order to get a specific note, guitar doesn't require that much of precision and combined withe muscle memory you can get to a level in which you can play without the need to look at the neck.
5. Guitar is a very popular instrument
From funk to Flamenco music, Rock to Jazz music, guitar has played a big part in building up many musical styles. So in every style you try to learn sure you will find many guitarists around you with the same music genre. Talking to other guitarists and sharing information will help you expand you musical knowledge thus being a better guitar player.
