My Softer Cover of "Losing My Religion" - a Song for Your Sunday Afternoon on Steemit

in music •  8 years ago  (edited)

This is one of my favorite REM songs so I hope you enjoy my take on it.
Hope you've been having a great weekend!

Oh life, it's bigger
It's bigger than you
And you are not me
The lengths that I will go to
The distance in your eyes
Oh no, I've said too much
I set it up
That's me in the corner
That's me in the spotlight
Losing my religion
Trying to keep up with you
And I don't know if I can do it
Oh no, I've said too much
I haven't said enough
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try
Every whisper
Of every waking hour
I'm choosing my confessions
Trying to keep an eye on you
Like a hurt, lost and blinded fool, fool
Oh no, I've said too much
I set it up
Consider this
Consider this, the hint of the century
Consider this, the slip
That brought me to my knees, failed
What if all these fantasies come
Flailing around
Now I've said too much
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try
But that was just a dream
That was just a dream
That's me in the corner
That's me in the spotlight
Losing my religion
Trying to keep up with you
And I don't know if I can do it
Oh no, I've said too much
I haven't said enough
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try
But that was just a dream
Try, cry, why try
That was just a dream
Just a dream
Just a dream, dream

Great interpretation of my favorite REM song. I sometimes find it strange how we can enjoy songs that inspire melancholy.

Thank you! Yeah, it's important to take it down a notch every now and then. :)

Wonderful poetry :)

Reminded me of the Tory Amos cover, really really good!

Wow, huge compliment. Thanks!

Very pretty song. Thanks Leah.

You're very welcome, Joe.

You have potential.

Aw Leah. That was great :) I'm wondering if you are on Steemit anymore... ? If not, I wonder why not. You might not want to say (if you even check this) and I'd understand, but I thought I'd still mention :) I'll just assume you're enjoying success with other things since it says like 7 months since you posted.

My grade 13 Biology teacher played us this song on our first day of class. He asked everyone in the class to write down on a piece of paper what you though the meaning of the song was.

Of 20 students, everyone had a different view of the meaning of this song.

Fantastic! Been a fan for a while ever since Gabriel turned me on to your music for our videos with Fort Galt. Glad to see you here! Cheers
