Get Some Jazz Steemit #9 - Perceptual

in music •  7 years ago

Hello hello hello Steemit!

Today in another edition of "Get Some Jazz Steemit" I wanted to share one of my favorite songs, "Queridos Viejos" ("Dear parents").

This is an original composition of mine, played by my -then trio, now quartet- "Perceptual".

I composed this song dedicated to my parents, my biggest heroes (together with my wife).

This was the first time we played this song live, it happened at a theater in Buenos Aires, called "El Cubo", we had an amazing time.

I thought of this song to be an evolving composition, where it keeps growing in intensity until it reaches the climax and then goes back to where it started.

Everytime I listen to it, Hitalo Coello (piano) never ceases to amaze me.
There's an interlude almost at the end of the song where he improvized a piece of music that takes me away from my body.

Even though we have played this countless times, I always get kind of emotional when performing it live.

Being able to play music with such great friends and incredible musicians as Hitalo Coello and Leonel Cejas (double bass) always pushes the bar higher, and makes you go beyond your own limits.

I hope you enjoy it, hopefully we will be releasing an album soon, and I'll make sure it's on Steemit.

Here are the previous Get Some Jazz Steemit entries in case you want to give it a chance:

GSJS #7 - Snarky Puppy
GSJS #6 - Joshua Redman
GSJS #5 - Christian Scott
GSJS #4 - Vijay Iyer

Good stuff, man! You got a new follower ;) I went through a jazz period in my music but never reslly landed there. Nice video, too!

Thank you @petrajordan ! We both know that Jazz, at first, might be hard to listen to for some people. What I'm trying to do here with the "Get Some Jazz Steemit" posts is to mix a little bit of swing / traditional jazz with more contemporary and modern jazz, and I'm being very selective of the music so anyone can have a listen and hopefully enjoy it.
If someone decides to have a glimpse at Jazz music and starts with the wrong artist or maybe the wrong stage of an artist's career (take Miles i.e.), it would probably be an dead end .

Thank you for having a listen!

Agreed! Though I’m pretty familiar with listening to jazz ;) I just don’t play it myself 100% - just some jazzy harmonies and a bit of improv on top of it ;)

Well, that's what I love about this kind of music, you don't have to be a "jazz-head" in order to apply lots of ideas and concepts of the style in other genres or compositions! You rock Petra! Take care

This is such an awesome piece of music!!!!, indeed it rises and rises and then comes back down several times, I especially loved the hand drumming bit!! hehe :)

Thank you Luchito! I had bruises in my hands for some days later on, you have no idea how tough the die-cast snaredrum hoop is! See you soon friend!

Wow really good chill jazz, thanks for sharing.
