I may not like Lil Nas X's video, but that is no reason to censor it!

It was only out of curiosity that I checked out Lil Nas X's video that has stirred up controversy. I've never heard of the guy and it's not my kind of music. That kinda reiterates my point that often, with the attempt to silence somebody, you inadvertantly amplify them.

But, the thing is, I didn't and I don't care what he said. If you don't like it, don't watch it. If you don't want your kids to watch it, it's on you as a parent to keep them away from it. If it slips by you and your kids do watch it, be a parent and make your moral values make sense to your children.

Censorship from any and all directions comes down to institutional laziness and cowardice. You can not read whatever you don't want to read. You can not watch whatever you don't want to watch. The moment that you're demanding that somebody else step in to regulate what can be seen or heard by you or others, you're just a wannabe despot without the courage to lead a revolution. You're an impotent jackass who doesn't deserve a platform because you lack the courage of your convictions.

Bottom line, though--I never needed to know what he said to defend him. It's helpful to get context; but, I don't really think that real free speech advocates need to ask what was said unless we're dealing with actual credible threats. Offense doesn't matter.
