A Flock of Seagulls
Here comes No. 2 of DanceLegends for Dance Weekend with a UK band from the 1980ies that fit into the sector New Romantics - or better wave and synthpop. The band was founded in Liverpool 1980 and had main success in the early 1980ies with the highlight of winning a Grammy Award 1983 for D.N.A. in the category Best Rock Instrumental Performance.
Other popular songs of the band include:
- Telecomunication
- Space Age Love Song
- Wishing (If I had a photograph)
Nowadays probably no one knows them apart the ones old enough that enjoyed the music when it was in the charts. A Flock of Seagulls was at least one of the first bands to break-through to the US charts from the UK in the music time period known as "New Wave". The band members all had killer haircuts to support their killer tunes. Lead singer and keyboardist Mike Score was a hairdresser before he founded the band which might explain a lot. The first lineup consisted of Mike, his brother Ali Score (drums), and Frank Maudsley (bass.) Later Paul Reynolds joined to complete the band in their most successful period. Officially the band is still performing but Mike also is working on his solo career nowadays - see him below solo:

I remember them only too well. The singer had an outrageous haircut even for those times. Wishing was a great song too, their 'big' hit, I had it in my 45' vinyl collection.

Oh yes - good times! Loved New Order! Just posted a little riddle about a guy called Dave Stewart - probably no one realizes it as no one reads and maybe does not know :-). Thanks @massivevibrations
