''The improv toolbox'' - Soloing on a one chord vamp - working on a full length lesson.

Hello Steemit!

Getting back to my studio I'm working on a series of improvisation lessons for this 2018. I am getting my gear together , updating my computer and I am also in the process of changing my DAW so I'm a little ''behind schedule'' but here is a little teaser lesson on ''one chord vamp'' soloing.

When playing over one chord vamps I like to super impose different scales over the original tonality or mode in order to get more interesting colors. This vamp is a Cm7 chord . So I start up with the blues/rock vibe for a home feeling and then I start playing on how to take it outside before resolving back to the Cm7.

Here are a couple of scale/mode options:

Cm pentatonic.
Dm pentatonic.
Gm pentatonic.
C dorian.
C melodic minor.
Eb melodic minor or Ab Lydian dominant.
G7 altered or Ab melodic minor.

Try resolving each one to the Cm pentatonic and hear how the tensions resolve.

For example:

Eb melodic minor ---> Cm pentatonic.

The Eb melodic minor for example introduces the b5 and b6 as tensions to be later resolved.

Full length tutorial coming soon :).
