Your Musical Steem Report Week 11 (March 12th - March 18th)

This music composition as made based on the movement of the Japanese candlesticks for Steem this week. This week we saw a slow but small burn downward for Steem. Please follow along the steps that went into making this!

Compositional Process

This was a really different process than I normally do. The synth I chose is very ethereal. I added a delay and a reverb on it. This was a complete improvisation watching the chart, holding parts that hold but not with exact timing as I've done in the past. In a way, it is really intriguing to me the way I had to follow the chart and come up with harmony in real time. Because of the improvisatory nature, I was able to create something sort of odd and following the chart without the whole process as the weeks before. I think I will do a mixed approach in weeks going forward moving around in my process.

Session

The session was quite easy to set up. I loaded ONE pad synth, with a Korg delay, and a EMT-140 reverb. I doubly compressed the pad because it had parts that were too stabbing, I also eq'd it and adjusted the attack. This way it's a totally new and original sound and it has a powerful fullness to it.

The Sequence:

The Mixer:

If you like, take a look at the signal flow in the mixing window (for audio people). Instead of placing the delay on the track, I decided to send it to a delay track. I added an EQ before it hit the delay so the delays will all be high vs add a mid and low end to it. With this, it stands out and there is no muddiness with delays at least.
