If this part 3 of 2 had been a snake, it would have bit my my Cajones!
Recently, I created this post about a cajón (a box):https://steemit.com/life/@steemseph/steel-drum-life-island-music-bass-for-a-highly-respected-city-official-s-memorial-and-then-a-surprise-cajon-request-part-2-of-2-43890f74e59b6
After I finish and posted it, our neighbor @johnstone asked a few obvious questions: https://steemit.com/life/@johnstone/re-steemseph-steel-drum-life-island-music-bass-for-a-highly-respected-city-official-s-memorial-and-then-a-surprise-cajon-request-part-2-of-2-43890f74e59b6-20180630t120913575zHi @johnstone! Thanks for responding and thanks for inspiring this part 3 of 2 post.
This was my response: https://steemit.com/life/@steemseph/re-johnstone-re-steemseph-steel-drum-life-island-music-bass-for-a-highly-respected-city-official-s-memorial-and-then-a-surprise-cajon-request-part-2-of-2-43890f74e59b6-20180630t153649156zIt’s just a box. No chords and no electricity required for this acoustic instrument. It has some secret stuff inside that I didn’t talk about (See part 3 of 2).Traditionally, we play Cajón with our hands. (some people use a brush)
First we sit ontop of it, reach down between our legs, and then smack it with our palms and finger tips to produce different sounds.
Since I’m trying to play it like a drum set, I mainly use my right hand’s palm to strike the middle of the cajón when I want a low tone (bass drum type sound). Then I’ll use my left hand to strike to top left corner to get a higher pitched tone that also brings out the snares.
On this black cajón, the top left corner is pealing away from the wood a little. When I smack it with my fingers, it produces a really cool snap type sound that accentuates the snares inside.
I should create a video to show you. Thanks for teaching me with your questions John.
Microlab Stereo sounds like an all in one battery powered portable speaker used to play music by bands like Stereo Lab. Is it?
Just Play It!
I made that video for you @johnstone. It's kinda weird at the end because it's hard to line up the two videos on an iPhone and I also "layback" a lot (eek) while I'm playing the cajón in one of them. I just wanted to be wacky and record each part with a metronome without hearing the previous part. (Normally I would want to listed to the drumset while Im recording percussion.)
Guess what @johnstone... I have another type of cajón that I haven't even talked about yet. Maybe I can get a friend to help me with that video.
NEXT: "Part 4 Of 2!?! Another cajón to compare with, just for the hell of it!"
Is that a good title? I just made it up.
I hope everyone is learning something more and having a few giggles too. I hope I get better at playing drums by doing all this. 😬
I am grateful for all the support and generosity I've received. Not just the upvotes, but also the logistical help and advice.

All right, brother!!! That was really really cool! From the very beginning up to the end.Thank you for this video. This was the first thing I watched today and its rhythm will bring me through all this day!
Tum tsh tatatatatatam tsh tatatatatatam tsh.. So easy and so cool. I loved Cajon, no need for sticks, playing with your hands, very natural and so cool!
I would love you to teach me, and maybe some day we can play some streem together. Can you give me the link where I can order cajon via internet, cause I never met it in our musical stores.
Thank you so much you made this video to answer my question! It's a big honor for me. And a big pleasure to hear you playing the cajon
What was that white remote doing? Is it a part of cajon?

Yes, very natural. Easy to just sit down and play.
I’m not sure where to get them near you. I would check out a Music Store.

I’m glad you liked the video. I hope to create another for you and anyone else looking for a rhythm lesson. That little remote thing is called a metronome. We use it to practice a strong rhythmic integrity and pulse. We lie. The metronome does not. 😁
Get one. 😐
