Let's Talk George Harrison And The Song, "Wah Wah", One Of The BEST Hard Rock Songs Ever!

in music •  7 years ago  (edited)

In a few days (Feb. 25th, 2018) it will be the 75th anniversary of the birth of George Harrison, an extremely talented and prolific artist who passed away in 2001.

To celebrate the man and his music I want to discuss the freight train of a song, "Wah Wah" from the 1970 album All Things Must Pass

If you have a copy of this in any format I would encourage you to get it out and crank it up on the best speakers/headphones you have so you feel the power of this gem. If stock laptop speakers are all you have at the moment it's just not gonna be the same.

The song was written by George the day he quit The Beatles, January 10, 1969. As he put it in an interview for the Anthology project,
"Everybody had gone through that. Ringo had left at one point. I know John wanted out. It was a very, very difficult, stressful time, and being filmed having a row as well was terrible. I got up and I thought, 'I'm not doing this anymore. I'm out of here.' So I got my guitar and went home and that afternoon wrote Wah-Wah."

Wah-Wah was the first song recorded for the All Things Must Pass album, which he began recording in May 1970 at EMI Studios, Abbey Road. The sessions were produced by Phil Spector using Phil's wall of sound technique.

So, what say you gentle listener? Can you feel the power? The driving unstoppable force? What is your favorite hard rock song of the last 20 years? It has roots in this song, in my opinion.
I think we may be desensitized to the genius of this song in 2018. Remember this was recorded in 1970, that's 48 YEARS AGO!
