Versions: a weekly exploration of covers, dubs, remixes, and other takes.

I'm a sucker for a good cover especially if it it makes the original more dance floor friendly. This 1984 Staple Singers take on "Slippery People" is a perfect example, tightening up the slack of the original by the Talking Heads. There's an urgent energy in the combination Mavis' vocals and the synthed out post disco groove that amplifies the vibe making it perfect for dancing.

Here's the original by the Talking Heads

And just for fun here are live versions by both bands!
