This time perhaps a kind of music people aren't really used of from me, but it is the band Soulfly.
Soulfly is a band formed around frontman Max Cavalera, he founded Soulfly right after he left his former band Sepultura. Both bands have their roots (nice choice of words regarding Sepultura) from Brazil. I'd always loved Sepultura and especially their album Roots. I love the Brazilian influences on that album with the use of traditional instruments.

When I heard Max Cavalera leaving Sepultura I was quite shocked because of the fact I thought the music and Max his voice where one. And to be honest after Max left Sepultura I lost interest because the new singer hasn't got the charisma in voice like Max did (my honest opinion).

He formed Soulfly in 1997, just after the tour where they also visited PinkPop with Sepultura. For me the greatest performance of Sepultura. He continued to play Sepultura like music with Brazilian influences.

Soon after Max Cavalera formed Soulfly he released the album "Soulfly". And hearing by the songs he had already written a lot which he probably would have used for Sepultura if he stayed in the band.

The first song of the album gives a great example of the energy of the music in combination with Max his voice.... I think the most will hate it, but I love it.....very much....

Soulfly @ Graspop

The first time I saw Soulfly was at Graspop Festival in Belgium. I was there together with my brother.
I think it was 1998. The festival was well filled with great bands, Black Sabbath with Ozzy, Dreamtheater, UFO and Soulfly for starters. I remember it was a great day with loads of sun, we enjoyed ourselfs very much. I even bought me a Soulfly t-shirt (which I still have, but don't anymore).

The weather was turning in the afternoon so my brother and I decided to get us some poncho's.

So we put on our poncho's while we were waiting for Soulfly. So we were having a drink while we heard the music turn down, so we went to the front... At that moment Max Cavalera came on stage and hit his guitar, the drummer took off and they started with "Eye for an Eye".... And before we could even know what was happening, we lost out Poncho's....they were gone, taken by the crowd that went pogoing in the moshpit.... My brother and I looked at eachother, and the only thing we could do was lauging...loud..... something we never had experienced in our lives before.... :)
