years ago there were so many kinds of music in the African continent one of the best kind of music was gnawa music which was defined as a north African repertoire of ancient African spiritual religious songs and rhythms. gnawa has something to do with the spirtuality of africans moreover slavees in africa used to relay on this kind of music to show their suffrances, especially the ones who brought to north africa that why we still have a city which protected the gnawi heritage that whywe still have a yearly fistivals in essouira city. the root of the word gnawa the pluraal gnawi is taken to be derived from the Hausa-Fulani demonym "Kanawa" for the residents of Kano, the capital of the Hausa-Fulani Emirate. Gnawa music is one of the major musical currents in Morocco. Moroccans overwhelmingly love Gnawa music and Gnawas 'Maalems' are highly respected, and enjoy an aura of musical stardom. so that a lot of moroccan people attended it's fistivals.
