Happy OSTARA and welcome of SPRING: My song and music video "The Waking of the Spring"

"The Waking of the Spring" is a Celtic uplifting seasonal song I wrote so you can feel like blooming the entire year. It talks about the life renewing during the Spring awakening. In this season I often sing it barefoot in the forest and I take my first baths in the creeks. I must say though, that today I woke to a wintry day and all was covered in snow but frail pale white and pink blossoms are facing the cold weather and buds are unfolding. Aren´t we longing to bloom? I am!

Today, 20th of March is the celebration of Ostara a Pagan celebration of the the Spring Equinnox in the Northern Hemisphere. Ostara is named after a Germanic Goddess of Spring and fertility The name means "to shine". In the Equinox the length of the Day and Night is the same, the forces of Light and Darkness in balance, and now on days will be longer and brighter until next Solstice. A promise of life... as birds unfold their wings

The Waking of the Spring_10 - by Priscilla Hernandez.gif

Though the dormant Goddess of Spring is supposed to start to stir at Imbolc it is today when the season is considered to begin. It is also the date of the Druidry Festival Alban Eilir (The Light of the Earth). A time for growth and balance... the return to life until it reaches its full boom and peak on forthcoming Beltane (May Day Festival) where everything will be in full bloom. Splatters of colours, tender grass and animals coming out from their lairs. Soon the canopy of the forest will be lush and will rustle with its "new leaves" voice.
Crown the tree with a lush and glorious green at the Waking of Spring

Despite having had a cold Winter this year the forest floor starts to fill with Daffodils and Crocuses... Here is a picture from last Sunday, taken while I was hiking. As you may know already I love Nature and I like to "forest bath" as much as possible. It is a source of inspiration and healing to me, and it has become my way of living.

They grow and thrive against all odds, Spring has awakened.

The symbolic plant of the Equinox is the trefoil and that's why the celebration of Saint Patrick a few days ago is also related to the welcoming of the new season. Read my previous post about Saint Patrick and my obsession for "green"

Poetry and Lyrics: The Waking of the Spring

the waking of the sring - by Priscilla Hernandez (yidneth.com)-4.jpg

Melting icicles tearing sheer droplets
giving birth to glittering sprites
that rejoice and splash at the fountain
dazzling under the light
Graceful they sing in the newborn stream
gurgle and dance at the waking of the spring
A blooming warmth is filling the air
with tantalizing scents
and flourish now in the curve of your smile
of delicious lips so red
A promise of life
as birds unfold their wings
runs in our blood at the waking of the spring
Maidens wearing floral garlands
with a blush so healthy glowing on their cheeks
and barefoot as they gather
like nymphs playing by the creeks
Cover field with flawless beauty
Crown the tree with a lush and glorious green
The sounds that winter muted
now burst alive and sing
for the waking of the spring
la, la, la... la, la, io...
And craving for sun
our life and love renew
la, la, la... la, la, io...
and craving for sun
our life and love renew

The making of the video

It was a stand-alone single that was never included in my albums though I will likely include it eventually in an acoustic compilation of songs inspired by Nature I have made throughout the years.

The video was filmed in a park in Barcelona and the rest of locations are in the countryside of Navarra, Spain where I currently live. The video was filmed and edited by @hedac and me. I made my own gown and dresses, except for the big floral garland (courtesy of Mimsy Crowns) and the white blooms crown (courtesy of Freckles Faerie Chest).

My harp was a gift from Rees Harps https://harpsicle-harps.com/
I was new to harp and it is one of the first formal recordings I ever made playing it.

Fun random fact about this video and me

The Waking of the Spring_2 - by Priscilla Hernandez.gif

You can see me dancing... I cannot dance in public. Even in a party I would hide behind a curtains not to be noticed. It makes me feel extremely shy, and I certainly don't have a talent for it, yet here I genuinely spun in joy. When performing on stage my movements are subtle and I often seek shelter behind my instruments... but I still am able to appreciate the "liberation" of it and shh.... sometimes I do in meadows and groves Sound of Music freestyle and vibe. That is the power Nature has over me and that the courage it bestows upon me.

My fufunchi starlet: Guest appearance of my rat Ritva

ritva spring - by Priscilla Hernandez.jpg

The video features a guest appearance of Ritva (now gone). She was one of my three rats (known as "fufunchis"). Ritva was a gorgeous white and grey husky rat, her name meaning Birch Branch.
She already had hind leg paralysis and was very old when we filmed this video. But this footage makes me remember her under the sun enjoying the smell of the garden flowers. I love you my sweet "fufunchi". One of this days I will write about my rats, because I know there are still lots of prejudices against them and I think I might be able to change a few minds about it. They were amazing and left a deep imprint in my soul. In fact they are featured in many of my music videos, sometimes in hidden places (like Easter Eggs to be found). You were so beautiful my little branch, Mummy misses you!

I am truly in awe of you! Beautiful song, lyrics, video, garments - all of it!! You must be descended from the fey themselves!

Aww you are so sweet...haha, I wish! But I do love fairy tales so thanks heartily for the compliment 🌸

You're welcome. I believe it's true! <3

So much beauty in this post. Gorgeous Ritva. She was a perfect model.
And you too ;):*

Also... happy Autumn ;)

I know she was your favourite girl

Great Post. I liked your imagery, except for the moving ones because I found them hard to look at. I find it interesting the way you see the world around you, perhaps you will appreciate summer or spring more as it is warmer. personally, I appreciate the winter, because summer in australia isnt very comfortable as it's very humid. You have a great voice, and your eye for a good photo is very captivating. Thanks for the suggestion that I follow you, as I'm glad that I did. You create some great material, look forward to seeing more in the future :)

Hope the gifs did not make you dizzy. I love all seasons for different reasons. Maybe Autumn is my favourite

This is so beautiful! I love it @yidneth!
Both the song itself with that gorgeous celtic lilt and the colourful, nature-filled video clip!
Such a pleasure to absorb! Thank you!
🙏🏽

Thank you for stopping by and listening. Spring here woke but in cuddling lazy still because Winter reigns still. It is soooo cold. Still the signs of new life are there despite the harsh weather. And Happy Autumn Equinox in your Southern Hemisphere.

Beautiful song you did a fabulous job

Thank you so much for the encouraging

Np keep making good music (:

)O( Happy Ostara! What a beautiful video and song! I was definitely entranced! The scenery you live by is just breathtaking honestly. The song is excellent, I love it. : )

Oooo do you use a pattern that you create to make your gowns or do you use store bought?

Ritva was so adorable, bless her.

Aw thx 🌸 In this case I made it, though I do not sew well. I use no patterns. Sometimes I turn a simple dress into custom others like these I do most of it. I also have some talented designer friends that gift me things. It is a combination of it all. Yes, she was, and a little yoda she was, so good and zen.

beautiful @yidneth ! the celtic vibe through the whole music and video is amazing , loved the little Ritva cameo btw ;) . I have never met a rat pet in person !

Thank you, she was already very old there, but still full of life :) I love her whiskers under the sun

You are fantastic! Beautiful both inside and out! I look forward to seeing more...and my husband says "She has an amazing voice...did you buy a CD?" LOL!!! Thanks for sharing!

Awww thank you, I actually have two CDs out, Ancient Shadows and The Underliving, being prouder of this latter as it's also my work as illustrator in the physical edition as a book (theunderliving.com) but you can find likely official released is you look as "Priscilla Hernandez" :). Still this single that was more an acoustic celtic experiment was not included in the albums, maybe in future compilations, it's just on bandcamp and in the video .) Thanks very much to you and your husband for the lovely compliment.

Well, thank you, you are indeed a nice encouraging vote!

Excellent song and video production. Reminiscent of Loreena McKennitt's work. Very nice post and photos. Thank you for sharing your immense and numerous talents.

Thank you, I really don't listen or have many traditional or New Age music though I had the pleasure to listen to her live and she has lots of talent, and a really gifted voice. So I accept the compliment heartily. My music has some celtic-ish sound due to the instruments I play, though I sometimes love to explore more spectral realms :) Thanks for stopping by :) Happy Spring!

So lovely and lively! Ash and I are jamming to some Steemit musicians this evening and he really liked this. The video is superb as well, great job ♡

Aww thanks, to be honest we started Spring with such cold weather, but today we already had some light and blue sky and the frail blossoms have endured the cold. I'm happy you enjoyed it. I am used to write sadder songs, but well this one is about Spring and thus It should be colourful and vivid. :) thanks for stopping by :)

I searched you on you tube and listened while I worked on the images in my last post. Your music is so fitting for the story I have in my head. I’m glad I wasn’t paying attention to your videos though... I would say I have a irrational fear of rodents, particularly anything with a hairless tail. I don’t know why... had to quickly scroll past your pictures 😬 I tried to join your discord, but the link came up with a notice saying the invite was expired 😞 AND I remember you mentioning illustrated cds? Is that correct, what’s the best way to purchase your cds?? I’m in Canada if that makes a difference.

That is why I want to post about them, because i want people maybe to see the beauty in them through my eyes. She would fetch a ball, lick my nose, come when called, smart beings and very good companions among themselves. I have had people with such phobia finally telling me they were not whey expected and for me that makes it worth. Well they appear in "no matter what they say" and here, the others are in their channel, so feel free to watch the others, you are safe. I will have it checked, the link, i created for the dlive chats, but will see to it. I will check your post in the morning
Cdbaby might have some copies shipping from usa, I sell my cds from http://priscillahernandez.com/shop I often do a hand drawn thank you. Sadly shipping is as bit high and same for one cd ir the pack, but it does not depend on me but mail post office fees.

I know my fear is irrational, I’m a very logical thinker so it bothers me that I can’t just get over it, maybe I will need hypnosis.

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

Maybe my post about them when I do. They are as smart as dogs but what really stole my heart us how good they are among themselves. When old Ritva became paralytic young Taika would cuddle with her, massage and groom her and take pieces of food to her mouth. It has been proven they care fir their old and young as a pack. Ritva died on my lap, Taika hugging her, last thing she did was to boggle her eyes (a sign of happiness) and final lick tonme and her sister. It shattered my soul to see it, the enormous beauty of that moment. I would not pet a feral dog, or cat or animal, but tamed pet companions, most underrated animal ever.

I found out that you were right that the discords link expire but if you dm me (I'm yidneth) I will invite you over :)

This is so cool! The video works really well with the song. It's great to see fellow Steemians releasing some really great music videos :D
I would love to invite you to create an entry in my new contest, thanks for checking it out :) https://busy.org/@seenitallfilms/siaf-s-media-contest-win-sbd-week-1-what-is-your-thing

That was a really lovely video to go along with a lovely song!

Aw thank you :)

What a beautiful song! The camera work was done great also. That Rat..is so cool just kicking back smelling the flowers!

thanks for stopping by :) @jonbit As we were welcome Spring I thought it was a good time to share it. Yes, she was really a starlet, my three rats made little cameos and appearances in many of my videos, I did one specifically for them. I know lots of people find it odd, but I'm proud she´s there. :) She made me happy, like light and blossoms :) she was a vibrant one. One day I'll write their story.

That was very enchanting indeed!

My girls would love this, they'd love the pretty dresses and the music :)

Thank you, my first album Ancient Shadows was called by people "The Ghost and the Fairy" though I like more spectral, sad and a bit gothic music sometimes I have a New Agey/ Celtic vivid side, and I guess here it is in "full bloom". I also love to make my own dresses and do fantasy shoots. I never dressed up at a party, or halloween so here I am as a grown up enjoying it.

I hope you had an amazing and joyful Ostara. This post was a pure delight to read and see. Blessed be honey 💚

Happy Ostara Day, Priscilla! :)

I cannot believe how much you put into your posts! I also can't believe you made your own dress!!! Is there anything that you don't do, besides dance in public? ;) Thank you for sharing so much of yourself...Steemit is a better community because of it!

Hahah @samanthajbarnes yes, dancing is only for the green fiels. On stage I've done simple movements but I usually find comfort in my instruments so I do subtle things and movements. Still when I close my bedroom doors... hahahha disco light (just kidding). I really don't have much of a talent for it, but I think it's something I need to liberate. And thanks once more for the lovely compliment!

I do a fair amount of dancing behind closed doors so I get you.

This is so beautiful and uplifting! Really, really well done. Plus, your little rat is adorable. Everything in your video, the music, flowers, cinematography, and sun rays are so gorgeous. Not to mention you and your makeup and outfit!

Happy Ostara! 💖

Following you and Resteeming this.

Thank you so much. But above all for your compliment for Ritva.

She is beautiful! You definitely should write about your rats, because they are very smart little creatures, and so many people don't appreciate them or just don't like them.

Love the video and love this so much! Love celtic music it so beautiful. Very nicely done. Upvoted :)

hey I really like how you combine your stories with art (music and photography), I have not seen any other steemian in this platform creating the content you create. =)

Aww you are sweet. Thanks. I love fantasy and I love Nature so I guess that is the connecting thread. Thanks for the encouragement 💚

Im a little overwhelmed on how beautiful this post is... not only the music which of course is stunning, but the animations and narrations... I'm very impressed.

Thanks for watching and for the encouraging words. We had an unusually cold start of Spring, it snowed the first day the season. But blossoms are enduring. I love playing celtic instruments, and though my music is usually moodier a Spring song had to be colourful, thanks for checking!

My kids watched this video with me. We all loved it! Happy Equinox! :)

Aww thank you to you and them

Absolutely wonderful! You capture the sylvan spirit so well! The quality of this work is remarkable! Best wishes!

What an absolutely beautiful and soul-resonating Celtic tune.

It encompasses everything Celtic from the incredible instruments you play (that harp o myyyyyyy) to the beautiful setting you shot the video in to the amazing inspirational lyrics about the coming of Spring.

Thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into creating this amazing video and Steemit post.

Your music affected me greatly. I cannot thank you enough. Much appreciation.

Thank you so much. I am not very proficient at the harp but it is such a healing instrument. It us a good Nature companion too. I will be doing a @dlive show on Thursday. Feel free to stop by and request it. I will dedicate it to you and talk about the challenges if you want. I will mention anyway if playing it.

You're very welcome and it is such a healing instrument. I absolutely love hearing the harp it makes me feel such at peace just like being in nature does.

And heck yeah that means a lot and would love to stop by and watch and listen. Thank you for letting me know and doing that.

Me encanta tu musica! 💙🌹🎶
aplausos @yidneth 👏👏👏
