Music Monday (feel free to add your own music)

in musicmonday •  7 years ago  (edited)

The aim is simple, to banish those Monday blues with an eclectic range of music chosen by Steemit friends both old and new.

Music Monday.jpg

Every Monday I intend to post a music video (and a few words explaining my choice) I invite you to join me by doing same in the comments section below. As the forum (hopefully) grows my aim is that we begin to inspire our fellow Steemians to broaden their musical horizons by listening to the music that inspires us. The only thing I ask is that (where possible) every song we listen to is played nice and loudly on headphones or speakers in order that we capture it’s true essence.

As more Steemians join this venture there is also going to be the possibility of being rewarded for our musical tastes via the amount of upvotes each song receives. That said please never feel awkward about posting a track, a guilty pleasure or even your own musical ventures. I have an extremely wide range of musical interests but also understand that music like beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder. As such I may play my chosen song, but who am I to define what constitutes good music.

Hey I hope everyone has enjoyed a good weekend! My choice this week is a powerful psychedelic track from The Walking Who, definitely one for the headphones. Every image used in the video is taken from a world famous painting. I hope you enjoy.

This isn't about making me Steem so please save your upvotes and reward the songs that you feel are worthy, although equally if my song stands out to you then I'd appreciate the vote. Any resteems would be much appreciated, all are invited and welcomed to join us in sharing and listening to a diverse range of music.

Hey Buddy, I was thinking about this earlier and couldn't decide what to post this week. I had a extreme amount of weed and reminiscing with friends this weekend and there was a lot of 60's through to 90's 'puffing music' blasted through the stereo.
This was one that made me say "fuck yeah!"
Smashing Pumpkins - Bullet with Butterfly wings

Awesome.

Ah man another brilliant choice @tremendospercy (I love this track) I was only listening to "today" erm .. yesterday!! Have you ever heard Billy speak his truth in interviews? he is extremely intelligent and well informed .. certainly one man that has both lived and seen behind the veil of celebrity. Great stuff my friend!!

Yeah I have as a matter of fact.
Billy Corgan is a smart cookie and a truther by all accounts, a dangerous thing when you're involved in the music industry and/or Hollywood.
Interestingly did you know he's the owner of the NWA National Wrestling Alliance !?
Go figure.

This song always brings me back to the apartment with my room mates ahh the 90's This song feels just as new as it did when it came out. Funny how some music has that feel to it.

That was awesome. Like psychedelic western space music, lol.

Here's my track for today:

Hey my friend, Really glad you enjoyed my choice, equally I'm loving this one! It has an almost dreamlike quality to it. A dream that floats you away on a beautiful river of chilled musical beats!! (really enjoying the reverberations and dub style drumbeats!) Great choice @soundwavesphoton

Just what I'd like to listen to at that poolside, very relaxing. Cheers x

Yeah this a banger, thanks!

Very cool song this is a good one to paint to... thanks

Another random idea that popped into my head when I saw this week's post...
Peace

Man I really enjoyed this!! Funky as hell, like a cool blues, hip-hop fusion i.e I love it!! Never heard of these before but they're going added to my playlist very soon! As always thanks for the great music @onetruebrother

Another new one on me, but loved it!

Funky, lovin the sound.

Awesome idea!

I hope it's OK to add one of my own? Well a collaboration with my good friend @grandspace actually!

Two songs from a little band from Germany called Fewjar.
I just like the variety in their songs and especially these two songs give me comfortable feelings for a monday evening:

Fewjar - Lo feat. Marti Fischer

Fewjar - Levitation

This band is new to me and it sounds like vitamin for my ear balls thank for sharing these gems of music

Hey now these choices were something quite beautiful. I'm loving the ethereal, dreamlike soundscapes that these guys have conjured up. Great stuff, never heard of them before but I can assure you I will be hearing a lot more of them. Thank you for sharing!

One of my, if not my favourite song/s, great post/idea.
Led Zeppelin, stairway to heaven

Hey, there my man! A stone cold classic!! There will never (as long as we live) be another band like Led Zeppelin. And they did it all without ever releasing a single, although that said I think they are the biggest album selling band of all time .. eclipsing even the Beatles. Great choice @deliberator

Thank you, as always a pleasure engaging with you.

Timeless song good choice :) I take a journey every time I hear this song.

Thank you, good times, that is what it reminds me of, and much more simple days.

This is one of my favorite songs to play on a monday. Because normally my Monday’s are always busy and full of noise

@unityeagle Such a cool version of that song thank you for sharing it here.. and for bringing my attention to this cool post with so much cool music.

Wow - thanks for adding a touch of colourful art to the music room @allowisticartist. Good sounds too, cheers :)

@ricia it is my pleasure to share my color with the music room :)

I LOVE your art. Magnificent <3<3<3

Thank you I paint for you and all that view.

Best version of that song, I have heard, it is on my fav list on yt :-)

Stunning voice. Will listen to that again often, thanks☆

Never tire of this version. Absolutely stunning. Have you seen them play it live? They played a festival here in the UK. Sadly I only saw it on TV but it was awesome!!!!

No I wish I did. I live in the Netherlands that would be an amazing trip to see them in the UK

Hey my friend, Thank you for the music .. it's a song that will always hold a special place in my heart as we played it at a very good friends funeral. No tears now, just amazing memories from times shared and lives entwined. Indeed hearing this song just sends them all flooding back and so I thank you for your great choice of music.

You’re welcome that’s the beauty of music it will always mean something to somebody. So many emotions attached to it and often brings back memories. Also this post is a great opportunity to explore new music

Crazy, hahahaaaa, SO not what I'm used to from this guy!!

Accompanied by that video - just mind blowing @perceptualflaws!
Here is my blast from the past for this week. Still in the 'not real' though!

Hey my friend, I'm really glad you enjoyed my choice this week. What a thought-provokingly beautiful choice of music. I just laid back, closed my eyes and allowed it to take me away. Thank you for sharing @ricia

Yeah! Hats off to Roy Harper, glad you enjoyed it.

Here's my contribution. It's my song, but it's a good one. Fun.

Amazing voice thank you for sharing hopefully I hear more soon

Thank you @unityeagle. What a lovely thing to say.

You have a beautiful voice... thank you for sharing it with us @caylabrooke

Hey @caylabrooke thank you for this great addition to musicmonday, you really are very talented and have a great voice! Really enjoyed the fun retro style vibe to this one. I have visions of you singing this in a smoky jazz room (minus the smoke in this day and age!) Thank you for the music!!

Thanks, @perceptualflaws. I'm new and still figuring my way around. So I was glad to come upon your post. I played in plenty of smoky (or not) jazz rooms. But my music is pretty eclectic. Thank you for the opportunity to share a taste of my own stuff for #musicmonday and thank you for the kind words. Always nice to hear.

This always manages to feed my happy.

And this well... it makes me sad ~ but it is truly beautiful.

xox

I love his version of Over the Rainbow. I never thought anyone could beat the original - but there are two standout versions for me. This one and Eva Cassidy's. Stellar.

Great choice loved it

Ah the beauty of duality (happiness/sadness) conveyed in two songs. I both like your style and commend your choices, great music .. thank you for sharing @ldacey-laforge

Something older

Hey @crossroads, great choice .. who doesn't love a bit of Sammy Davis Jr! Those were the days eh? I love the message of this song as well. Thank you for the music.

Thanks mate and keep up with your fantastic feed :)

Hard to beat the old crooners;) Good having some 'age' in here to keep me company too!

Beautiful pick on your part this week :) Very chill.
Mine not so much, haha. These beats keep shaking my bones, I gotta have them to keep me moving lately!
Much love to you @perceptualflaws <3

That’s what makes this post more interesting the contrast between our music choices I love this

Yeah I LOVE music Monday, so fun. I look forward to it all week!

Me too @amymya, just that it is Tuesday before I can listen to them all and comment. I've always laid more weight on lyrics I suppose, but with that video they are almost unnecessary.

@unityeagle all the contrast in music is so interesting to see all the flavors.

Thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed it. Haha not it's definitely not chilled, but that's cool because I'm loving the pounding beats! Also because I have a deep history and roots in dance & hip-hop so I enjoyed the grime style fusion on this. Mad video as well! Thank you for sharing.

Yeah the video is intense. Captivates the audience very well! Glad you enjoyed the song :)

What a great way to explore new music I love this thank you for this amazing initiative

The concept of psychedelic music were among hippies, approximately 60 – ies of the last century. Born a musical genre for a reason – at that time young people, particularly hippies discovered drugs from the group of psychedelics. The musicians were also experimenting with mind-expanding drugs. Hence was born a new musical and over, taking in its basis the influence of drugs, which is, in essence, hallucinogens. One of the founders of this music style can be considered the band The Doors, who in his work combined a narcotic trance and Eastern philosophy. In General, psychedelic music originated from rock and near – rock styles. So, there are several schools of psychedelia, which we now discuss.
English psychedelic school and the most important musicians in it is Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Syd Barrett, and many others.
Canterbury school with the psychedelic Soft Machine.
American psychedelia, led by the pioneers of the style of The Doors.
Kraut – rock style emerged in Germany. Representatives of this style — Electric Orange and Amon Düül.
In addition to rock now common styles such as psychedelic folk, psychedelic–ambient, psychedelic–soul and psychedelic trance.
Over time, the concept of psychedelic music has changed and now this style is not necessarily synonymous with hallucinogens. Now very often appreciate music from the point of view of psychological factors of a single individual. Someone closer rather heavy chords and sound of, say, new metal, but for someone interesting and dark trance.
The fashion for psychedelia gone far enough, appearing new trends in painting, theatre, cinema and different kind of work. The main point here is — dip your viewer or listener into a state of deep contemplation itself, or what is shown in the work. If it's the music, the attention it will attract quite a complex text, an interesting melody with all sorts of sound effects.
Perhaps, listening to psychedelic music is really worth – You can discover new facets, and may simply decide it's not for You. Anyway, listen online, psychedelic music, will not be any problems. Listen, discover, grow!
