Music Photography: Tongyeong International Music Festival 2018

Tongyeong may be a relatively small town in South Korea, but it is home of many accomplished artists throughout history. One of them was Yun Isang, a composer who made a name for himself in Germany. In honor of the man and his legacy, the city has been hosting the Tongyeong International Music Festival since 2002. The artists that participate in the music festival are usually from the classical or jazz genres, but there is also a segment of the festival for other genres as well.

TIMF Fringe is a series of performances held at smaller venues around the city, featuring musical genres such as rock, pop, folk, and many others, typically performed by amateur or semi-professional musicians. Fringe Special stages are also set up for more established professional acts. The 2018 edition of the TIMF Fringe Special kicked off today with two energetic performances.

The first band to perform was Rapercussion, a samba percussion group that has a staggering 120 members total. A handful of them came to Tongyeong to perform.

The second group that performed at today's Fringe Special was Jeju Island ska band South Carnival.

It was an awesome way to kick off the music festival and I look forward to more performances. I'll definitely share those with you as well!
