Currently the embryonic genetic modification can be carried out in some countries in order to eliminate those diseases that until today had no cure. in other countries it is forbidden due to the risks of doing this to have children on demand

Genetic Modifications are a reality and we are already taking giant leaps in the field. However the technology is still in its infancy. Even though the end result would be a world free from all genetically transmitted diseases ,however the transitional period in my opinion is full of uncertainties.
To understand my logic you have to consider the fact the Genetic Modification on humans have not been tried as any other drug trials. Thus the available record set for the results of genetic modification is very small. Secondly the genetic makeup of each and every individual human is different thus it is highly unlikely to predict if a particular genetic modification would result in the same side-effects for all individuals.
As for as I am concerned I would not opt for Genetic Modifications on my Child as of now. But if you had asked this question 50 Years from now my answer would have been different. With eventual passage of time and more reported cases and test studies, we would be one day able to have designer babies without worrying about the consequences of changing the gene's.

Yes I would, without hesitation.
Until the technology is perfected I would not use it for "cosmetic" gains such as eye colour or IQ enchancement or height, etc.
However when faced with having a child with a disease or special needs or other qualities that would affect their quality of life, then I most definitely would.
Given the opportunity to correct a defect and give your child a normal, healthy life, what parent would turn that down?
