Maturity Theory is a qualitative progress in biological development. Maturity is an intrinsic and describes changes that develop in a sequence in line with age, and without direct influence by external stimuli.

Examples of signs of maturity:

- in infants who can sit at the age of close to one year, who seems to want to lift their bodies to stand. Suddenly the child was able to stand up, even though before he had never been able to stand up. This situation shows this child starts to mature to be able to stand up. At this time the role of parents is important in providing opportunities for the child to learn to stand alone.

There are several characteristics that mark the formation of the maturity process or not because of the learning process:

- behavior appears or occurs the first time suddenly.

- the realization of the pattern of behavior occurs in a sequence and orderly, but the pattern can vary slightly between each individual.

- In terms of physical and biologically there is an increase in the integration of system functions of body organs and reproductive abilities.
