I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since I was baptized at 8. My wife and I have been married nearly 30 years, and have had numerous visits by different bishops and other leaders (we don't call them pastors or ministers). Never once during that time, has any of them visited with my wife while she was alone with them in the house, let alone had any type of sex with any one of them.

With the LDS faith, a married man and woman can have sex. Sex outside of marriage, which would include extramarital sex or sex before marriage, goes against such beliefs. LDS leaders are generally married themselves.

Until this question, I'd never heard of such a possibility. Abstinence before marriage is taught, and complete fidelity while married is also taught. That would go for everyone, regardless of the position they hold.

Now, members are human beings, too, and I have heard of situations that aren't in accordance with gospel teachings, not just regarding sexual relationships, but any other of God's laws or commandments, but in every instance, the actions are not condoned, or brought into general practice.

There are groups which call themselves offshoots of the main church. I have no idea what they practice, so I can't comment on them. If a bishop or other leader were having sex with married women of their congregation, the moment it was discovered, and then proven, the bishop would be removed from his position, most likely excommunicated, and potentially so would the wives, if they were doing so willingly and knowingly (as in, they knew it was wrong to do but they did it anyway, without blackmail or some other form of coercion).

There are many rumors out there about the Church, its members, what they do or don't do, and while some of it is bound to be true, or even partly true, a lot of it is not, or taken out of context.

Man is fallible, makes mistakes, and members of the Church are no different. That's why the gospel of Jesus Christ and His atonement exist. To teach us how we should live, and then provide a way back when we fall. However, wantonly going against God's laws, which this would be in any case, brings consequences, and would not be even remotely okay for any leader and woman not his wife to do.

NOTE: This answer may show up twice. I'm having a hard time getting it to post, but for some reason it's already being upvoted.

Why does it feel like... everyones watching me!?

In Malaysia, government backed Islamic organizations are converting non-Muslim en masse using monetary and material rewards as lures.

Happy I'm not living there to see what's going on. Goes against my believes

I like your frankness 😜

I am from a country where prostitution is legal and rape rate is higher, you can say top ten in the world.

Rest you imagine.

Are those statistics standard across the board in ALL countries where prostitution is legalized?

I’d guess not...

No sex related crime rates are not the same across all the countries where prostitution is legal.
In my country it's legal so I observed the situation closely.
Legal prostitution and sex crime is two different things and are not connected. You would find many countries where the crime rates as well as amount of brothels are low compared to where prostitution is legal.
You also have to consider that all the abuse and sexual crimes are not even reported.
So it's mostly depends on the social culture and people's behavior.
I gave my explanation separately here in answer. If you got time you can go through it for a better understanding.
Thanks for reading.
Have a great day.

ah k, cool.

great articulation. at first, it seemed like your brief comment was just direct shut-down of my perspective - while it's great to hear/see/read this expanded view of the various related factors, which are all critically-important to the matter...

Thanks for your understanding. 😊
Stay happy.

I've read the conclusions of that paper, legalizing prostitution DOES bring increase in human trafficking, but PROTECTS sex workers better than if prostitution is criminalized.

So in a way, legalizing prostitution DOES reduce sexual crimes overall.

You mistakenly read the conclusions of the journal my brother. In this study using an economic approach. So, legal prostitution from 150 countries sampled in the study shows that scale effects are more dominant than substitution effects. The scale effect of legalized prostitution leads to an expansion of the prostitution market, increasing human trafficking.

I am from a country where prostitution is legal and rape rate is higher, you can say top ten in the world.

Rest you imagine.

Then those people must not be willing to spend money on prostitutes.

Yeah, they are like common man, they used to find other easy targets.
social cultures and the judiciary system lets them do so.
I tried to explain it by my answer vastly.
If you got time or interest you can go through it.
