Greetings Vicky, answering your question I truly believe that both options are feasible or could occur and I will explain why.

First of all, we must bear in mind that homosexuality is the attraction or behavior of individuals of the same sex or gender. This behavior or behavior, from my point of view may be due to 2 factors that could be physiological and psychological.

With the physiological factor I mean that there could be a failure in the organism that could determine a deviation in the common behavior of the individual, for this I will give some examples:

1- A baby or fetus during pregnancy must receive a quantity of hormones (Estrogens) provided by the mother. Children develop (thanks to their genetics) estrogen receptors that do not allow the passage of this hormone in cells; while girls develop receptors that allow this step. In this way girls at birth will have the necessary number of female hormones (in addition to those that develop in the future), while the child will develop their male hormones over time, as it grows.

If there is a genetic failure in the sequence that encodes these receptors, the assimilation of hormones can become unbalanced and thus give another behavior to the individual (not necessarily at birth, but if as it develops), this way the " it is born" could be explained.

2- There are other types of physiological faults of the body that can cause this, such as faults in the glands that secrete hormones, faults in the transport of these and others.

Personally, I know an individual with the first case (who has a genetic failure in the production of receptors) and it was not until an adult age that he realized what happened and why his behavior was affected.

Now with the Psychological Factor, it will depend a lot on what is instilled in the infant, who surrounds him, his experiences, and everything that participates in the development of his thought and how he sees the opposite and equal gender.

From situations such as the infant is developed in an environment surrounded by a single gender or sex; who lives with parents of the same sex; what his parents teach him and how to teach him, his positive or negative experiences when interacting with the same sex and the opposite sex, among others.

But wait, does not mean that these circumstances determine that homosexuality is generated, everything will depend on how the child interprets, analyzes and above all how he feels about each circumstance. From here we can say if '' is done '' or not.

You are interested in knowing a little about the first case about the genetic failures of the receptors, and I know that you will do it because you are a scientist. I invite you to research ESR1 or ESR alpha and ESR2 or ESR beta, associated with sexuality.

Wow, you are going right for the hot topics aren't you?!

It is my opinion that it is something you are born with.  I feel that there is enough scientific evidence to prove that.

Unfortunately, homosexuality is something that is misunderstood, ridiculed, and looked down upon in much of modern society.  Not as much as it used to be, but still very much more than it really should be.  If  as some people hypothesize it is a choice, why would a  human being choose to put themselves in that position.

I think the fact that you have many people feeling the way they do despite all of their upbringing, their families values, their religions rules is proof in and of itself that it is something you are inherently born with.

My wife is a social worker and works with many people from all walks of life.  She has even worked with young adults who are going through the phase of questioning why they are how they are.  Her professional opinion as well is that it is something you are born with.  If I could have her answer this question I would because she is much more adept at the technical terms than I am.

I'm of the opinion that homosexuality is actually made. I don't buy into all the crap about people being born with the likeness for the same sex. This is not and has never been normal.

It's a pity that humans would always try their best to distort God's creation. People would leave the natural use of their body and chose to go after that which is against the law of creation, that which is despicable.

The man God created, he created a wife as a companion. There's a reason why God creates Eve and not Steve for Adam. If God didn't want homosexuality then, He doesn't want it now.

Also, God would have made an Abigail for Eve and not Adam. The fact that God orchestrated things to go this way means that's the way it should be.

There is the saying that the best way to understand a thing is to check its beginning. The best way to understand the way God intended for things to be is to check the beginning, the creation and from every indication, there is nothing pointing to homosexuality.

Those who say people are born that way are devoid of the basic understanding of nature and creation. These behaviors have been developed because humans don't gets tired of experimenting. Now, there are reports of people having coitus with animals. Would you say that's natural too? Were they created that way, to have sex with animals? I think it's rime that proper check be done to our systems and what we hold as morals. Otherwise, we lose our sense of rationality and become emotional entities.

It wasn't so from the beginning.

If God has a plan for everyone and God is omnipotent and all powerful does that not mean he KNEW in advance this is what would happen and is something mankind has EVOLVED to.

If everyone is simply fulfulling God's plan for them, how can this be abnormal or against God's will? It is after all what God MADE them

Interesting one, although it is hard to give full diagnose as question is rather complicated. Socialization has the biggest impact and it can't be denied. Homosexuality exists ever since,  and it is nothing strange or wierd about it, but these days it became like mainstream movement. Being "different" is the ultimate guide, even if it means to change your sexual orientation. I hope noone will get offended but mostly people choose to be gay in order to get attention they mostly desire. On the other hand there are people who were born that way and i'm fine with it as they do not directly affect my life. The only thing that matters is are you a good or a bad human being, after all we should all be united in diversity. Cheers
