Either IBM or VMware, has the IBM x3650 M1 on the positive list of servers that can run ESXi 5.5.0 Update 1. But it´s runs both the installation, and the hypervisor without the slightest hassle.

These servers can be purchased for around $ 90 a pieces on Ebay.
And they are really good to start up a VM-ware environment on.
