Ah-yee Tsoe's Boiled Beans
အရီးစိုး ပဲျပဳတ္

She is usually the first customer at the store, and a regular one at that. She always got all her needs from the store, especially the beans, choicest quality, in addition to her kitchen requirements, except vegetable which she could easily find in the village itself.
သူက ဝယ္ေနက် ကုန္စံုဆိုင္ကို ေစ်းဦးေပါက္ အခ်ိန္မွန္ ေဖာက္သည္အျဖစ္ေရာက္သြားပါတယ္။ အဲဒီဆိုင္မွာ စားေတာ္ပဲ အေကာင္းဆံုးလက္ေရြးစင္အဆင့္နဲ႔ အျခား မီးဖိုေခ်ာင္အတြက္ လိုတဲ့ အေျခာက္အျခမ္းေလးေတြ ဝယ္ပါတယ္။ ဟင္းသီးဟင္းရြက္သစ္သီးဝလံကေတာ့ ရြာမွာတင္ရႏိုင္တာကိုး။ ဝယ္စရာဘယ္လိုမလဲ။
She did not boil her beans directly. She wet them and let them sprout before boiling. That was her secret. She did not add chemicals like soda. She had to prepare days ahead. Her delicacy wasn't famous without reason.
သူက ပဲေတြကို ဒီအတိုင္း ေရစိမ္ၿပီးျပဳတ္တာမဟုတ္ဘူး။ ေဆာ္ဒါေတြ ဘာေတြ ထည့္တာလဲမဟုတ္ဘူး။ ပဲကိုမျပဳတ္ခင္ ေရစိမ္အပင္ေဖာက္ၿပီး အေညႇာက္တစ္လက္မေလာက္ ႐ွည္လာမွ ျပဳတ္တာကိုး။ ဒါက သူ႔ရဲ႕ႀကိဳးစားမႈ လ်ိွဳ႕ဝွက္ခ်က္ေပါ့။ သူ႔ပဲျပဳတ္က အေၾကာင္းမဲ့ နာမည္ႀကီးတာ မဟုတ္ပါ။
She liked me very much. I always bought two-anna-worth every morning. She weighed and emptied her tray from the balance into my bowl. And then pinched a few more beans and drop them into my bowl saying they were especially for me. As a rule, I had never seen her showing any affection to her own great-grandchildren, some were older and others were younger than me.
အရီးစိုးက ကြၽန္ေတာ့္ကိုသိပ္ခ်စ္တာ။ ကြၽန္ေတာ္က မနက္တိုင္း တစ္မူးဖိုး မွန္မွန္ေစာင့္ၿပီးဝယ္ပါတယ္။ တစ္မူးဖိုးခ်ိန္ၿပီး ကြၽန္ေတာ့္ဇလံုထဲကို သြန္ထည့္လိုက္ပါတယ္။ ၿပီးေတာ့ ခ်ိန္ခြင္ခြက္သိမ္းၿပီးမွ သူ႔ရဲ႕အိုမင္းရင့္ေရာ္ေနတဲ့ လက္ေခ်ာင္း ေလးငါးေခ်ာင္းနဲ႔ ပဲျပဳတ္တစ္ဆုပ္ေလာက္ကို ဒါနင္ဖို႔ေနာ္ နင္စား ဆိုၿပီး ဇလံုထဲကို ထပ္ၿပီးထည့္ေပးပါတယ္။ ကြၽန္ေတာ္ သတိထားမိသေလာက္ကေတာ့ အရီးစိုးမွာ ကြၽန္ေတာ္နဲ႔ မတိမ္းမယိမ္း ျမစ္ေတြ႐ွိတယ္။ ဒါေပမဲ့ အဲဒီျမစ္ေတြက အရီးစိုးရဲ႕ ပါးေရလိပ္ သြားမ႐ွိတဲ့ မ်က္ႏွာေပၚက အျပံဳးမျမင္ဘူးခဲ့ရပါဘူး။
