Novice Cerimony in Myanmar

I had the pleasure to be invited to a Novice Cerimony in Nyaung Shwe (Myanmar). A novice is a young monk, when they are kids they are called novices and when they are adults they are monks. In this cerimony the kid is dressed up like a prince in the house and from there they go to the monastery by horse, surrounded by people carrying umbrellas and guided by all the guests playing drums and carrying bowls with flowers and money in order to claim good luck. The day after, the head of the kid is shaved and they go live in the monastery for, at least, one week. After this week they will decide if they still want to live there or go back home.
