Adventures of a Crypto Newbie - Introduction

in myfirstpost •  5 years ago

In my first post, I won’t get too much into crypto itself, but rather introduce myself so that you have a better understanding about where the basis for my future thoughts and opinions comes from. My plan is to talk about the information I come across throughout my crypto journey and share my general thoughts and concerns along with the mistakes I make along the way (I’ve already made quite a few) in hopes that I can help others not make the same mistakes I do. However, {WARNING: Disclaimer Incoming} I am not a financial advisor and the advice here given is not a financial advice. Honestly, I don’t expect I’ll be giving much advice on future opportunities, but hope to point you in the direction of some people who might actually know what they are talking about.

To start with, I want to make sure that everyone understands that I’m definitely a Crypto Newbie (hence the title). Although I had heard of Bitcoin many years ago (and am kicking myself for not getting into it sooner), I only started getting serious with it at the end of September 2019 on a drive out to Lake Tahoe. It’s about a 4 hour drive from my place in San Jose if I leave at the right time and I was looking for something to kill the time. I usually just listen to music, but I’ve been stuck in a bit of a rut lately so I decided to look for a podcast to listen to and stumbled across “The Bad Crypto Podcast” (https://badco.in) and was immediately hooked. I’ve since started listening to quite a few podcasts and YouTube channels, but if you are looking for an interesting and entertaining listen to see if crypto might be for you, this is a good place to start. I’m also just a bit sarcastic if you haven’t already picked up on that.

Fair warning, I have a bit of a ADD/hyperfocus issue, so I usually either get bored quickly or so focused on a topic that it’s dangerous. In this case, we went with the hyperfocused route. I guess time will tell if this was a good or bad thing. Although I live in Silicon Valley, my job isn’t very “techie”, but is just enough to exhaust me at the end of the day to the point that I don’t want to think when I get home. This has kept me in a bit of a bubble when it comes to tech since I moved out here 3 years ago which is why I’m just getting started now. But now I’m addicted, to the point that I’m actually taking time out of my already exhausting day to write this and future episodes (at least 1 I hope before the ADD side kicks back in).

I’ve already made so many mistakes I can’t wait to share with everyone, so tune in next time for more Adventures of a Crypto Newbie! (for some reason as I was typing this I felt like I needed some official title. We’ll have to see if this sticks).

Until Next Time!
