Namaste Steem Family,

In today's 'local news', I would like to bring you news from Dagad (Junagadh, Gujarat, India), a small town in my district Junagadh. Water and fertile land are abundant in this area, so most of the farmers who own their land in the town make a great deal of profit from their harvest because of the positive demand for their crops that prevails all around it. The other positive feature of Dagad's farming is that its farmers do not use synthetic fertilizers (pesticides) but exclusively use natural organic fertilizers (cow dung, buffalo dung, and other organic materials), which are all easily available in their own town.

In India, besides rice, wheat is regarded as one of the most important staple foods. It is a type of Rabi crop that is sown in the winter months and harvested in the months of spring. So, today, we visited this town in order to find out whether the wheat had been harvested or not. At this time of year, when the majority of the Indian population is celebrating Holi and Baisakhi, most farmers are harvesting their Rabi crops. After they have sold these crops, the farmers start preparing to plant their kharif crops, which are suitable for the monsoon season.

We visited the land of a farmer who has been known to us for a long time, and when we arrived the crop was already harvested and all the wheat had been collected under a cover so that it could be protected from the heat of the day.

I was able to observe the qualities of the wheat with my mother, and even though I had no experience in evaluating the quality of wheat, I was able to conclude that the wheat was of very high quality just by looking at it. In the light, the wheat was shining and I could tell that there was enough water available for the plants to grow this wheat.

The problem is that the farmers lack proper machinery and other equipment in order to harvest the wheat, which is why they call others with machinery to harvest the wheat on their farmland, however the machine workers leave some wheat plants intact. The majority of them are in a hurry to harvest wheat in other farm fields and earn more money in the short term while the harvesting season lasts.

Our family needs around 450 Kilograms of wheat every year, but to be on safe side we added 50 Kilograms more to our requirement, and we made a deal with the farmer to sell us 500 Kilograms of wheat at the price of 25 Indian Rupee per Kilogram (25 INR equals 1 Steem at current market price).

500 KG12,500500

Having brought a small sample with us to our home, we showed it to our neighbors as well as to our extended family members and from the responses we got, most of them expressed interest in purchasing wheat from the same farmer.

This is an interesting article.

You might want to work on improving the journalistic style of your writing to ensure the post develops as a news article rather than a personal report.

Including some more information about the farmer would add to the value of the post.

Maybe a photo, and perhaps a quote from him on why he prefers to use organic farming methods rather chemicals.

Do you many farmers in your area still use organic farming methods?
