Easter the origins: Ostara

in mythology •  7 years ago

Easter gets its name from the goddess Ostara, also known as Eastre. Ostara is a fertility goddess. Her annual arrival in spring is heralded by the flowering of trees and plants and the arrival of babies, both animal and human.

She was recently depicted in the series finale of American Gods on STARZ network. Who did an amazing job introducing how Easter became and why the bunny is so significant with this holiday. Also that Jesus kind of highjacked the holiday ( it's who has the most beliefs wins ).
This 2017 year Ostara exact date below:

There is a little egg trick you can play. At the exact time of Ostara if you lay a standard egg on its belly (flat surface). The egg will stand tall with the gravitational change of the time. Easter has a great history. Always look to the origins of a story. Usually it's been retold thousands of times with all new characters playing the same roles. Knowledge is pure GOLD!
