Truth #1 Death to the Rapist

I've asked a lot of thought-provoking questions on Facebook lately and I decided I'm going to do a series of posting Truths according to me. I'm going to do 12.

To my surprise, I thought this was going to be easy, but man when you've been on a seemingly endless existential journey for the past 2-3 years you honestly question everything and truth proves unobtainable. I've been asking questions none stop now that I think about it. I realize this is part of the reason I've been so lost lately. I need to stand for something. I need the solid ground. How do you join a team when you think everyone is right?

So after considering a truth I could get behind here it is

Adults who rape, either children or other adults need to die

Man, that feels strange to say. I even had an argument with my sister in law about this a year ago. I argued that it was not our place to pass judgement and eliminate and decide if someone needs to die. That as long as you are breathing you are more bad than good. That a pregnancy from rape could give us a saviour to cure cancer or something along those lines. That we needed to trust the universe/ God to determine if someone needed to die. That things happen for a reason and it was not for us to understand.

Here is the reasoning behind this truth. Child molestation and rape are now a public health concern. This is an epidemic. I used compassion to see what creates rapists and have formulated two plans to prevent this mental health condition.

Plan One

Speak of your know molestation or rape. Rapists have typically been abused themselves and feel isolated and alone. They do not understand that by not speaking about their emotions and pains with others that they are more likely to repeat and forward the chain. "Speak or Act it out" Wise words from a therapist. This does nothing to solve the current issue. It will help the future generations.

Plan Two

Early mental health screenings. Catch tendencies of rapists and support them in reframing so they never become rapists. Why don't we have mental health screenings as often as we do physical health screenings? This could help eliminate a whole lot of problems we face. This still does not create a solution to the current epidemic.

This leads me to my first truth. Although there are some exceptions to the rule. We can only move as fast as our slowest member of society. We have to understand that most that have raped/molested will rape/molest again. We as a society need to get over our fear and hang-ups with death. It's a natural process after all. If we had a predator that targetted these people and would eat them we wouldn't have this issue. The fastest solution to this problem we face is to eliminate the perpetrators. This will do two things. Stop them from doing it again and stop them from creating future rapists. Some innocent men will die in the process, but that is a cost worth a world where rape and child sexual molestation are rare. Instead of a world where it is commonplace.

I've made my first stand and it feels amazing. It's controversial enough to cause people to disagree, but I'm going to stand behind it.

I Love You All
(That includes rapists. I just think we would be better off in a world without you.)
