Since these were complex, I simplified it for myself to see which big important countries would become mostly covered by the same conditions as the Sahara desert.
Turns out NASA’s map have been on target.
China’s transformation into a new Sahara desert is well underway, which is why I’ve never taken any of those thousands of predictions that China would have a GDP larger than the USA in dollar terms seriously.
USA has 2/3rds of the entire world’s 18,000 miles navigable waterways, just in the Mississippi River valley.
China has only about 1,500 miles of navigable waterways and these will dry up as China becomes Sahara 2.0.
How would you create an economy to rival the USA in the Sahara? Impossible. This is why I haven’t taken the long term potential of China as seriously as most economists.
