mov lol : installing nasm on an offline linux pc ?

in nasm •  4 years ago  (edited)

... you would think so - but even linux doesnt ask questions with the always-online tude

personally im too paranoid to keep any kind of data on a pc thats online if it might get anyone anything at all - - - -

barring the notes i leave on the desktop for that rapist cockroach who is always up my ass uninvited (maybe rape is defined differently in some place but "being up my ass un-invited pretty much calls it for me)

so we start at https://pkgs.org , your one-stop shop for all your offline dyi needs

so i ended around what i think reads as libc6 (64bit) wont install b/c you have a different version number/series than the libc6 (32bit) installed on your system

after several hours of swapping a flash drive from this one to the next

but essentially

this works just fine on a pc thats connected :

rendercat@Thirdspace:~$ sudo apt install nasm
[sudo] password for rendercat:

Why would you do that ? cuz "it" said today ASM-day - since i been willing to check - so why would you do all THAT ? well no idea, cuz i felt i had to to make sure no one gets anything while poking and

what will you do with it?

absolutely no idea, i think "hello world" will be a good start :)

before yesterday i didnt know apt had "apt show" for instance ... and now i know why they have apt (heehee haha) , try to imagine windows being so COOL and not sluggish that you can actually control each and every single one background process, peeker, poker and application running

you might find yourself with a pc at 200% speed that can run unity on 8gb with a gt710 , among other things , ... the ads on all your apps would be totally irrelevant and probably not there and no telemetrics at all or cortana, or hidden cortana might speed it up another 50% or more , i cant benchmark since i dont know, i know you can do it on the command line "windows-r" or something but you know

windows 95, when telenet was SO cool that you could enter an ip in the "search" box and if it had a shared folder you could access it from your desktop ?

thats like sometime after i played the original xcom games, and i got my bum-hands on xcom2 for ./. FOUR EUROS !!!

thats within my paygrade so i need to play that now, im so sorry i cant be saving the world in the meantime and all that

not that i dont wanna for all it did to me

"for" ...

nevermind

SO, kids ... how to not-python the night away

ah yeah ... the configure script in the official zipfile for nasm-self-indulgence had somewhere a line with -V -qversion (twice), which had to be replaced with --version as capital v and qversion does not compute

"things that dont come with the manual"

what? you play crosswordpuzzles and call it braintraining ?

i have no idea what the use of asm today is other than the shee joy of coding which i once knew in a past life

maybe ill find out again

....

??? nope, like LAN yes but not "at work" , the whole ISP was configured in some way where everyone in the country who was on it got treated as on lan by windos and you could search in the search files and folders by i.p. and if the i.p. had a windows pc with a shared folder you could get in it, like hiking across the country

they never made much publicity about it , im not sure when exactly that got fixed, im not in the habit of your sisters panties unless she throws them at me - - - ... or when i have mortal enemies maybe ...

besides i dont wanna sound like some l33t mister robot-type-from-tv b/c im not, it was just a thing that was there
