Are we done discussing Dr. Larry Nasser? How many people were complicit in the molestations of over 100 underage females?
We live in a society where every hardship is attributed to someone else's malevolence or some form of systemic prejudice and recklessly ignoring the abuse of others is seemingly okay, given reporting such actions would cause temporary discomfort.
I'm not expressing a desire for every single person who facilitated Dr. Nasser in any way to be imprisoned for life, or even imprisoned, but a reprimand of some reasonable form is necessary. Similar to the Parkland shooting, where the exact staff members whose neglect and greed led to the deaths of 17 children are all quick to blame guns.
Should the lives of the accomplices and enablers of these acts have their lives ruined? No, definitely not. But, they have demonstrated a lack of ability to make the ethical judgments necessary for the specific positions held.
We need to stop celebrating the opportunists, maligning the heroes, and ignoring or excusing the enablers.
