The call of Abram in the Bible: I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you. Genesis 12:2

The patriarch Abraham in the Bible is recommended as the model of man to follow. Abraham was not only the material father of a nation, Israel, but also the spiritual father of all those who want to enter the Kingdom of Heaven taught by our Lord Jesus: "Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham" Galatians 3:7.
And God choose a very special man, Abraham was a brave man (Genesis 14:13-16), faithful (Genesis 21:22-24), and God-fearing (Genesis 22:12); the like seeks the like: "Every living thing loves its own kind, and we all love someone like ourselves. Every living being keeps close to its own kind; and people associate with their own kind." Ben Sira 13:15-16.
Abraham was, in essence, a person endowed with the moral and ethical qualities to fulfill a spiritual mission assigned by the providence. God tested Abram with different problems throughout his life and came out of them victorious, and in this sense; Abraham with his long life (immortality) bore a great resemblance to that of Job, the two had to prove themselves with great perseverance and constancy, to be worthy of their creator's blessings.
In the Book of Genesis, the Lord called Abraham, who used to be called Abram and who lived in Harran with his family, and told him that he had to go to the land that the Lord was going to show him, the land of Canaan.
This is how the Sacred Scriptures tell us about the call to Abram by God:
"The LORD had said to Abram, ´Go from your country, your people and your father's household to the land I will show you.
´I will make you into a great nation,
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you.´´
So Abram went, as the LORD had told him; and Lot went with him" Genesis 12:1-4.
